Dunsham Park Playground Review

The playground at Dunsham Park in Aylesbury was refurbished not that long ago and one of my followers recommended that I do a review. This is “only” a small, local playground but it’s quite a good one.

The toddler area

Quite a large area of the park is actually dedicated to younger children, and that’s because of the MASSIVE sandpit. Even though I’d been told the sandpit was here I’d totally forgotten so we hadn’t taken anything with us! Rubbish. I mentioned when I did my review of Clarence Park in St Albans that I have a bit of a concern about open sand pits. Surely the local cats just use it as a massive litter box? There was no evidence of that though and, when I spoke to the warden in St Albans they also said it had never been a problem.

There’s a little platform in the middle of the sand pit with various pulleys and buckets for moving the sand around. The sand lift is surprisingly stiff so Smallest Child couldn’t do it on her own – which meant I always had to be on hand to help.

Within the sand pit there’s a little kiosk that could be a shop, theatre, whatever you want it to be.

Other equipment for younger kids

For younger children the playground at Dunsham Lane / Park has got a see saw, toddler swings, roundabout and spinny cup.

The main equipment at Dunsham Park Playground

The playground at Dunsham park doesn’t have a huge amount of equipment but the central feature is a slide / web rope frame combo. There’s a rocket style zip line, tunnel and a rope-end swing. My kids always love those! Finally there’s a couple of normal swings, balance platforms and a see-saw.

Next to the playground at Dunsham park there’s a multi-sports court .

Our Dunsham Park Playground Review

The playground at Dunsham Park is fairly small and realistically it’s better for younger kids than older ones. If you’ve got kids of a variety of ages, it might be better to plan for them to disappear to the sports court whilst the younger ones play. Oh, and don’t forget a bucket and spade!

Dunsham park playground review, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire | Free Time with the Kids | Free things time do

Hi, I’m Vicky. My husband and I live in Aylesbury with our three children; a 14 year old son, an 12 year old son and a 6 year old daughter. I (mostly) love spending time together as a family. We visit all kinds of places and we’re quite happy to drive a fair distance for a decent day out. A few years ago I decided to set up Free Time with the Kids as a way to share our experiences of these family days out.

You’ll find the essential information you need to know before your visit that can be surprisingly hard to find out. Where do I park? How much will it cost me to get in? Are there any discounts available? Are there loos? Can I take a picnic or get food? My aim is to be your go-to guide for all your free and cheap family days out across Bucks, Beds, Oxon, Herts & slightly beyond. I really hope you find the reviews helpful. If there’s anywhere that you’d recommend please get in touch contact@freetimewiththekids.com or get in touch via Facebook
