A ruined Norman castle right in the middle of a Hertfordshire town! it’s completely FREE to visit too. It’s a great place for a picnic and a run-around. Lots of good facilities nearby too, just be careful of the steep slopes.

This is a lovely area of woodland with numerous footpaths, a large green space, meadow, a pond and a play area for the kids. If your family are Harry Potter fans you might be interested to know the Whomping Willow was actually a tree in Ashridge plus loads of other shows have been filmed here.
