Hi! My name is Vicky and I live with my husband and our three lively kids in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. I set up this blog for me as much as for other people – I’m always getting recommendations from people and then forgetting them!
I really enjoy getting out with the family; exploring new places, learning new things and getting some fresh air. Quite frankly there are also days when I just need to get the kids outside so they, and their noises, aren’t bouncing off the walls!!
I try to get out as often as I can, but if you were doing a paid activity every day it would cost a fortune. Sometimes days don’t go as planned (well, I do have 3 kids including a toddler after-all) and if you end up coming home early from somewhere it’s not as much of an issue if you’ve not paid to get in!
Personally, I don’t mind travelling a little bit for a full day trip so you will find places that you might need to travel a couple of hours to get to. I think about 2 hours from Aylesbury really would be my max for a day-trip. Places like this, that are further away, will only be places where you can actually spend a full day there. There are some awesome parks out there, but no-one is going to travel 2 hours to get to a park!!
I love holidays in the UK and weekends away but, again, this is something we could do without some careful planning. As soon as we decide where we’re going I start researching all of the places we can visit, with the cheap and free ones getting priority! With this in mind you’ll also find a “Further afield” section reviewing places you cannot visit from Aylesbury in a day but might like to visit when you’re down that way.
During our days out, my family and I have been to some incredible places which I think you’d enjoy taking your own families too. Slowly but surely I’m adding new places so keep coming back for more inspiration. Don’t forget to check out my to-do list. These are all the places I’m hoping to visit ASAP
My aim is to tell you about each place, but also the practicalities you need to know before taking children like parking, toilets and food.
I really hope you find my blog useful. Please don’t forget to follow me on facebook to see my latest reviews and details of free events I’ve found. Feel free to send me any recommendations, I’m always keen to hear about new places where I can spend some free time with the kids.
