Children’s Science Experiments

During lockdown science has been our go-to practical activity. The kids can get hands-on with their learning and you can get some pretty dramatic reactions. All of the children’s science experiments I’ll show you are easy to do and very rarely need any special kit. There are several items that tend to come up a lot so we have a ready supply in the house;

Bicarbonate of Soda

Vinegar

Plastic bottles of various sizes (we pretty much always do a science experiment in every bottle before it gets recycled!)

Food colouring (various colours)

I’m adding to this list all the time as we try to do a science experiment most days of the week. They’re not always successful, but that’s part of the fun! When we made the rocket we were all set up for a spectacular explosion…. and nothing happened. They it was just a messy fizz. A few adjustments later and it became one of the children’s favourite science experiments!!

Free Time with the Kids is all about making the most of the time you have with your kids, without spending a fortune. If you’re looking for other ideas of things to do with the kids make sure you explore the rest of the website. There are children’s craft and activity ideas and a toddlers and under 5’s zone. There’s also hundreds of reviews of places to visit across Bucks, Beds, Oxon and Herts. You’ll find sections for family walks, free places to visit and places where you just have to pay to park. There’s also reviews of English Heritage & National Trust properties, places where you can use your Blue Peter badge. Looking for a cheap day out? Those are here. Finally there are reviews of our favourite treat days out.
