Why I set up Free TIME WITH the Kids
My husband and I live in Aylesbury and we have three children; a 9 year old son, a 7 year old son and 2 year old daughter and I (mostly) love getting them out on family day trips exploring in the fresh air whenever I can. We go out a lot and Free Time with the Kids is all about our adventures! We have a real passion for nature and history and over the years we’ve been to some amazing places. That said, money doesn’t grow on trees, and the cost of lots of day trips soon adds up. On this website you’ll find loads of free and cheap family days out across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire.
In light of the COVID-19 outbreak I’ve put together a guide to FREE home education resources for EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
Search for your next cheap family day out here! Just enter a town, county or attraction you’d like to visit. You can also search for type of family day out such as indoors, outdoors, museum reviews, free, cheap or Blue Peter attractions etc
That’s why I’ve set up Free Time with the Kids; I’m always being told about fantastic affordable or free family days out and then I forget all about them! I’ve set this blog up to review lots of things to do with the kids for free, or extremely cheaply. In each review I’ll tell you the things you need to know before visiting, things like costs, parking, food and toilets. Most of the days out reviews you’ll find here are in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. There are also some reviews of days out in Warwickshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire. There are also dedicated sections for reviews of places we’ve visited as day trips from Aylesbury that are a bit further away and a couple of reviews of places we’ve had whilst on holiday.
How to find your next day out
I’ve broken the reviews into sections so you can find your next family day out really easily; You’ll find reviews on free places to visit, places where you only have to pay for parking and days out costing less the £25 per family. There are also lots of schemes and subscriptions that can help you reduce the cost of a day out such as having a Blue Peter badge or being a member of CSSC (a scheme for public sector workers). You’ll probably pick up from my posts, but I love the National Trust and English Heritage so they get their own review section too!
Looking for a days out in a specific county? No problem, just click the tags at the bottom of the page and in the menu. Looking for a specific thing to do? Again, no problem – there are review sections for that in the menu too.
Make sure you check out the blog too – there’s loads of what’s on guides, discounts and tips on saving money on your family days out plus reviews of specific events and activities.
Have a look around to find out more about our cheap family days out in Bucks, Beds, Oxon and Herts. I’m always keen to hear recommendations of places our family should visit, so please get in touch if there’s somewhere I’m missing.
