The playground at Brill Recreation Ground in Buckinghamshire recently had an upgrade but it’s taken us a while to get down there and check it out. It was worth the wait though. The playground has been designed with a windmill theme to match the windmill that dominates so much of the village. If you want to make more of a day of it you can also visit the common which is a great place for the kids to run around.
The one thing I will point out is that Brill Recreation Ground has two playground areas and they’re on opposite sides of the ground. There’s no real visibility from one playground to the other so if you’ve got kids of varying ages you either need to pick a playground or just let the older ones get on with it an half keep an eye on them.
The main playground
There are two main playgrounds at Brill Recreation Ground. The main playground area is mainly for older children (although younger kids could enjoy parts of it too). The main feature is a central play frame that’s pretty epic. Across three towers it’s got a tube slide, straight slide, scramble net, monkey bars, climbing wall, fireman’s pole, tunnels and a little den.
Other equipment in this part of the playground includes a fairly decent zip line, swings, next swing, accessible swing, and a couple of spinning poles. There’s also a brilliant shelter with plenty of seating in it. I can see that being a decent place for older kids to hang out.
The smaller playground
The smaller playground at Brill Recreation Ground has got more equipment than the one for older kids, which seems a little unfair. The windmill theme carries on here too;
In this area you’ll find another play frame with tunnels, slide and den. There’s also a trampoline, see-saw, swings, roundabout and rockers.
Then there’s these various pieces of kit which I have no idea how you’d describe them!

The rest of Brill Recreation Ground has got tons of space for the kids to run around. There’s also a multi-sports court and basketball court.

The playground at Brill Recreation Ground is brilliant, although having it across two areas with so little visibility does make it a bit awkward. Parking is an issue here (see below) so timing is probably key if you’re visiting!

Parking – limited on-street and even that is a bit rubbish. The road leading up to the rec ground is actually the same one for the school and so I imagine it’s a bit congested! PLEASE don’t park like an idiot. We decided to park in the village centre/The Green and walk back. I also noticed the Memorial Hall has a car park but I’m not sure if you’re supposed to use it or not. Lol.
