The Lawn playground in Ivinghoe, Buckinghamshire is one of those ones I’ve driven past dozens of times on the way to other day trips and thought “ooh, we should go there” but never got around to it. Now we’ve finally been to try it out.
As well as the rec ground there’s a ping pong table (just bring your own bat and ball), outdoor gym equipment and a basketball net.
The equipment
Theoretically the playground equipment on The Lawn in Ivinghoe is suitable for ages up to 12. Realistically though it’s probably best for younger kids. There’s only a couple of bits that might be of interest to them, such as the zip line or this contraption. I genuinely had to google that we were using the “rock and cross” correctly! It’s a see-saw / monkey bar combo. Because those are two things that naturally seem to fit together! Mind-boggling aside, the kids enjoyed it, even if they struggled to actually get across it without falling off.
There’s two play frames in The Lawn Playground, and it was those I notice every time I drive through Ivinghoe. They’re both best suited for under 10’s, but they are good if your kids are into slides! Between the two there are no less than five slides.

Our The Lawn Playground, Ivinghoe Review
If your kids are under 10 then you can easily spend a good 45 minutes / an hour playing here. It’s not as big as somewhere like the Hub at Aston Clinton so you might struggle to spend much longer there. If you’ve got older kids as well, who might get bored maybe take a football or ping pong kit to keep them entertained? Or at least something to make the most of the rec ground. The playground and skate park at Pitstone might be a better choice for them.

What else is there to do nearby?
Pitstone recreation ground is just around the corner, as is Pitstone Windmill. Ivinghoe Beacon, the Ashridge Estate and College Lake are all within a few minutes drive. We’ve also stayed at Town Farm camping within is a few minutes walk away.
