The playground on the Haydon Hill estate in Aylesbury is one of the larger playgrounds and in July 2022 it had a complete refurb. It’s visible from the Bicester Road so I’d been keeping an eye on it, waiting for it to open, and it finally is. Middle Child is a bit annoyed about the equipment though because they’ve removed the massive wood and rope climbing frame that was there.
One thing to note is that the playground isn’t fenced off and there’s a footpath running through the middle of it. For some reason they’ve removed one of the dog waste bins so it’s now quite a long walk from the park to the nearest bin. Before the refurb I’ve found dog mess around the playground, and I imagine this isn’t going to improve the situation!
The toddler equipment
On one side of the path is all of the toddler equipment. There’s a mini play-frame with slide, a house, spinning cup, see-saw and swings.
The main playground
The biggest new addition is a tower with slide, climbing walls and one of those weird slides that is actually two poles. Those things terrify me, mainly because I can’t get my head around how to actually use them!
Haydon Hill playground has got something of an abundance of swings! There’s toddler swings, a nest swing, a circle of swings and then this thing. They’ve also just added one at Parson Road recreation ground in Leighton Buzzard. It’s a bit like a merry-go-round combined with a swing. It also needs at least two, ideally three plus kids on it to make it work properly. Most of the time it needs an adult to haul it around, which is hard work!

Our Haydon Hill Playground Review
It’s a nice little playground with some good equipment. It would be better if it was fenced off, or at least off the main footpath, as I do worry about dog mess. Actually, it would be better if people picked up after their dogs, but that’s a whole other issue.
They have recently extended the Waddesdon Greenway so it now starts at Haydon Hill playground. If you wanted to you could walk/scoot/cycle off road all the way from here to Waddesdon Manor.
