The Esplanade, Woolacombe, Devon EX34 7DL
As you can see from the video, the beach is vast and relatively flat which is good for the kids swimming in the sea. There are some rock pools for them to explore (although not as many as nearby Croyde Bay) and excellent facilities including pony rides and a few fairground rides. The shops (and ice cream kiosk) are right next to the beach as well once you’ve have enough of the sand. The surrounding area is full of amazing walks for all abilities – visit tourist information for maps.
Access is via a slope or steps. Being a beach pushchairs are no fun but the dry, loose sand area actually isn’t that big so you can get onto more solid sand fairly quickly.
We just had a flying visit but I absolutely want to come back. How long until the Easter holidays??
Entry – Free
Parking – numerous car parks. We were only there for a bit so park on the road (£1.10 for an hour) there was a car park right next to the beach (£6 all day) and we passed others on the way in which I assume will be cheaper.
Toilets – several blocks just off the beach
Food – the main shops and restaurants are quite close to the beach. There is also a cafe as you come in.
Rating – 5 / 5 – we’ll be back!!
