The playground and recreation ground at Wingrave in Buckinghamshire was recommended to me when we visited as part of their annual scarecrow trail. The playground itself was refurbished in early 2020 and is mostly suited from walkers up to about 10 years old. It’s mud-free with a soft play surface through-out. There’s also a massive recreation ground as well.
The equipment
There’s a decent play-frame for older kids with a tunnel slide on it. It’s not as big as the one at Tetsworth though. For younger kids there’s a large tractor play-frame. Smallest Child particularly liked this because it’s got lots of hidden features.
The rockers that they have here are randomly an aeroplane and a dog. I’m not quite sure what the theme is supposed to be here??! There’s also a spinning pole and a see saw.
The playground at Wingrave recreation ground is relatively small and so it doesn’t have much in the way of accessible equipment. The roundabout is possibly accessible and that’s it.
You’ll find various swings here; standard ones, toddler ones and nest swing.

The main green space at Wingrave recreation ground is quite large. There’s goal posts and benches dotted around.
Our Wingrave Playground and Recreation Ground Review
Wingrave has got a nice little playground. It really isn’t that big, but it is well maintained and there’s some decent equipment. I think slightly older kids would probably get bored here but Middle Child (10) and Smallest Child (4) really liked it.

Parking – there’s a small car park immediately on your left as you come into Church Street. I actually thought it was parking for the pub at first, but that’s slightly further down the road.

Toilets
No public toilets. Patrons of the pub can use theirs.
Food
Picnics allowed. There is a pub in the village, The Rose & Crown, which is child friendly.
What else is there to do nearby?
Ascott House is just around the corner. There’s also the awesome free children’s trail in Leighton Buzzard which includes Parson’s Road recreation ground & splash park.
