I’d been waiting for the new playground behind Ashley Green Memorial Hall to open and it finally has. A couple of followers have been in touch to say that I should go down and review it. If you’re not sure where it is, it’s just off the A41, not too far from Chesham. As well as the new playground The Glebe Cafe has also been added to the back of Ashley Green Memorial Hall, including an outdoors seating area.

The playground is relatively small, it’s actually slightly smaller than I thought it was from some of the photos I had seen. I would say it’s suitable for toddlers up to about 9 (maybe 10) years old. I had originally planned to visit the playground at Ashley Green Memorial Hall the weekend that it opened with some friends, including Biggest Child and his bestie, who is also 11. I’m really glad that we went to Aston Clinton Park instead. That’s not to say this isn’t a good playground, just that it’s best suited to younger kids.
The centrepiece is a pirate ship with two slides coming off the back. It’s also got a couple of swing bridges to access it, a mound and a tunnel. Both kids spent most of their time going round and round and round and round this. Like some kind of hamsters!
There’s a smaller slide / tunnel combo, an accessible roundabout, a variety of swings (including accessible ones) and lots of musical instruments.
Another big feature is the wooden train. It’s big enough for adults to comfortably sit in whilst the kids drive the train.
The Glebe cafe
The Glebe Cafe is hidden around the back of the hall and directly overlooks the playground area. The only seating is outside and there’s no cover so it’s only for dry weather. I’m not sure if that will change in the future. Price-wise it was £2 for a latte, £3 for hot chocolate. Cakes were about £3 and I think they were all home made.

It’s a lovely little playground, and is great for younger children. The fact that there’s a cafe and toilets on site is a massive bonus!
