I’ve never been to a Christmas tree festival before but I saw this one advertised in Aston Clinton, Bucks so I decided to take Smallest Child along. They have got 40 Christmas trees decorated by charities, clubs and businesses from in and around Aston Clinton. Each one has a different theme and most of them have hand-made decorations. Entry is FREE (as the lady said you cannot charge to enter a church) but they were selling programs for £1 each. £1 per group – bargain! The festival is in aid of improvement works at the church to upgrade their disabled toilet.
As well as today (14th December) the Christmas Tree festival is also on the 15th December from 1.30pm – 4pm.
There’s a free little trail for the kids to do. On some of the trees there is a hidden picture that they have to tick off. Once they’ve found all the pictures there’s a small prize (a candy cane). Some of them were surprisingly hard to find and I had to enlist the help of a small child to find the baby Jesus!
Make sure you read the labels on the Barnowls nursery’s tree. I definitely didn’t well up. Nope, not at all *sob*
You won’t be here for ages (we were there for about 45 minutes) but it’s beautiful, Christmas-y and in a very good cause. We’ll definitely be going back to the Christmas tree festival in Aston Clinton again! If you’ve got time why not pop down to Aston Clinton park for a bit of a play?
PS – All of the Christmas trees at the festival were donated by Ben Mason in Aston Clinton. You can find his Facebook page here.
Food and drink
There are refreshments available in the church. Cake is £1/£1.50, mostly home made and very yummy. There’s also mulled wine, squash and tea & coffee. We spoke to the Vicar and some of the volunteers and every single one was lovely!
What else is on?
6pm – Crib Service
8pm – Carols by candlelight
11.30pm – Midnight Mass
9.15 – Family Christmas communion

Hi, I’m Vicky. My husband and I live in Aylesbury with out three children; a 10 year old son, an 8 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. I (mostly) love spending time together as a family. We visit all kinds of places and we’re quite happy to drive a fair distance for a decent day out. A few years ago I decided to set up Free Time with the Kids as a way to share our experiences of these family days out. You know, the essential information you need to know before your visit that can be surprisingly hard to find out. Where do I park? How much will it cost me to get in? Are there any discounts available? Are there loos? Can I take a picnic or get food? My aim is to be your go-to guide for all your free and cheap family days out across Bucks, Beds, Oxon, Herts & slightly beyond. I really hope you find the reviews helpful. If there’s anywhere that you’d recommend please get in touch firstname.lastname@example.org or get in touch via Facebook
