My husband and I live in Aylesbury and we have three children; an 9 year old son, a 7 year old son and an 18 month old daughter and I (mostly) love getting them out exploring in the fresh air whenever I can. We go out a lot! We have a real passion for nature and history and over the years we’ve been to some amazing places. That said, money doesn’t grow on trees and the cost of lots of day trips soon adds up.
That’s why I’ve set up this blog; I’m always being told about fantastic, affordable or free places to visit and then I forget all about them! I’ve set this blog up to review lots of places you can spend your time with the kids for free, or extremely cheaply. I’ll tell you the things you need to know before visiting, things like costs, parking, food and toilets. Most of the reviews you’ll find here are in Buckinghamshire and the surrounding counties. There are also dedicated sections for places we’ve visited as day trips and family days out we’ve had whilst on holiday.
You’ll find sections on free places, places where you only have to pay for parking and places costing less the £20 per family. There are also lots of schemes and subscriptions that can help you reduce the cost of a day out such as having a Blue Peter badge or being a member of CSSC (a scheme for public sector workers). You’ll probably pick up from my posts, but I love the National Trust and English Heritage so they get their own section too!
If you want to keep up to date with my latest family days out reviews across Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire and beyond, plus hints and tips for cheap days out, subscribe to my newsletter here:
Have a look around to find out more about the places we’ve been to and the places we want to go to next. I’m always keen to hear recommendations of places I should visit, so please get in touch if there’s somewhere I’m missing. Email email@example.com
