Haddenham in Bucks has got a new playground on Tibbs Road so we went along to do a review. It’s a bit hidden away on a new estate so even some residents of Haddenham might not know it’s here yet!
The toddler equipment
There’s a couple of bits that are specifically designed for younger visitors. There’s a small play frame with a slide. There’s also a small spinner, toddler swing and a couple of rockers.
There’s also a funky little roundabout with cups instead of seats. It’s not exactly quick but it’s good fun. There’s also a couple of nest swings and a mini enclosed multi-sports pitch.
The rest of the equipment
The first thing you notice about this playground is the MASSIVE frame for the nest swing. Not sure why it’s that big but it’s huge. There’s also a couple of rubber hammocks – never seen those in a playground before.
There’s various play frames here. There’s one with a zip line that’s more like a jet pack than a normal zip line. The boys LOVED it. One of the frames has a slide on it and there are a couple of scramble nets. Then there’s this funky contraption that has a spinning frame on it. The kids took a little while to get the hang of it (aka not fall off) but once they did it was great fun.
Another unique bit of kit is this rotating carousel that you have to stand up on. If the kids are brave enough they can actually take their feet off seat and just dangle from the overhead handles! I’m kind of grateful by boys didn’t figure that one out as I’m not sure I’d be able to cope with that! They wanted me to keep spinning them round (there’s no way of propelling it yourself once you’re on it) but that proved surprisingly difficult to get them up to any speed. Or maybe I’m just rubbish!
The sports pitches
I believe that this area is going to become a pavilion and recreation centre in the future. Currently there’s a couple of football pitches right next to the playground. All of this means that there’s a small car park onsite. Well, there would be if the builders hadn’t taken it over!!
Our Tibbs Road Playground Review
The playground at Tibbs Road is more focused on play frames than any other I can think of. There’s a good variety of them too. I think the playground is more suited to older children then toddlers – there’s not really a huge amount for them to do.
Parking / How to get there
There’s a small car park. If the builders have taken over the whole thing then there’s on-street parking but please make sure you park responsibly.
Address – Tibbs Road, Haddenham. HP17 8FH
None on site, although I do wonder if that will change when the pavilion is built?
Nothing on site. Haddenham garden centre is quite close. Their cafe sells the most amazing, MASSIVE cakes.
What else is nearby?
There’s actually another small playground really close to the one on Tibbs Road. It’s on Spitfire Path, Haddenham, Aylesbury, HP17 8NX.
Hi, I’m Vicky. My husband and I live in Aylesbury with our three children; a 10 year old son, an 8 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. I (mostly) love spending time together as a family. We visit all kinds of places and we’re quite happy to drive a fair distance for a decent day out. A few years ago I decided to set up Free Time with the Kids as a way to share our experiences of these family days out. You know, the essential information you need to know before your visit that can be surprisingly hard to find out. Where do I park? How much will it cost me to get in? Are there any discounts available? Are there loos? Can I take a picnic or get food? My aim is to be your go-to guide for all your free and cheap family days out across Bucks, Beds, Oxon, Herts & slightly beyond. I really hope you find the reviews helpful.
